CAFCON 2018 was a STORM GIANT-sized SUCCESS!!

CAFCON 2018 was a tremendous success and we want to thank all of our sponsors, partners, vendors, staff, volunteers, game masters, and attendees!  We once again broke our attendance record and had even more games on site to challenge and entertain those who attended.

Assault of Evil, an original adventure written by Lenard Lakofka ( Leomund of TSR) himself.  Lars Clark as the illustrious Dungeon Master.

Our CAFCON CARES Charity Raffle & Auction raised around $900!  Half of the proceeds went to the Meeting Place Mission.  We raised around $420 for the Meeting Place Mission (a homeless, battered women’s, and transitional shelter) in Morganton, NC.

The other half of our total charity raised will go to our own special Battlepenguin, Debbie Meder to help out with paying for treatment, comforts, whatever she needs in her fight against that ugly, stupid bastard known as cancer.  We ❤️ you Debbie.

Our wood-burned logo, made by Theresa Adams Clark, auctioned for over $100!

We had some great and noted game masters.  One in particular was Frank Schmidt, author of the critically-acclaimed and award winning Adventures in Filbar series of AD&D-5e modules.  CAFCON has always been proud to support and work with Frank.  We definitely look forward to working with him again for our 2019 convention (oh yeah, CAFCON 2019 is definitely gonna happen!).

Frank Schmidt of Adventures in Filbar has always been an ardent supporter and sponsor of CAFCON.  We were extremely excited and grateful to have him attend the convention and run two popular adventures:     Scriptorium of Carolinus and Infiltration of Taco del Tor o .

Speaking of AD&D-5e, another extremely popular offering was the Alien: Encounter which was run by Tori Cole.  This was an adventure set in the Aliens universe, but utilized the 5e rule set.

Although there were so many games and events worth mentioning, we'd be remiss if we didn't give solid props to James Keller who ran the extremely popular Wizard's Risk II.  In fact, James was awarded top DM at our awards ceremony (determined by attendee open vote).

We also had our first VIP-Exclusive game with The Silver Sphinx, a collaborative AD&D-1e tournament dungeon crawl.  Initial response was so overwhelming positive, we opened a 2nd session so more people could play!

Chris Larr, aka the Funky Grognard , ran back-to-back sessions of The Silver Sphinx for our VIP badge holders.

Also returning to CAFCON this year was the Pathfinder Society!  These gamers totally crushed it this year with full tables filled with entertained and challenged players.  We absolutely look forward to working (and gaming) with the PFS again in 2019.

The Pathfinder Society was highly regarded at CAFCON this year and achieved well-earned praise and accolades from attendees!
